UBS, Zurich
After three years of construction, UBS, the Swiss high-street bank in Zurich, opened its headquarters. The building, which is over 100 years old, had been completely renovated and rebuilt. While the exterior of the building has barely been changed, as its facade is protected as a historical monument, the interior has been redesigned several times. Modern touches have been added to the traditional building.
The stairs are flooded with light and go from the basement right up to the fourth floor, giving visitors a stunning view of the Zurich skyline. The special lift system has been built with a minimalist structure made from mirror-polished steel. The lift walls are made from extremely thin, 0.7 mm-thick LIXOS® Real Stone Glass made from Carrara marble. The means that people using the lift still have privacy whilst being able to enjoy a unique experience at the same time.
